Doctor Hotel Visit Phuket: Treatment in Your Room, Villa or Condo

Yes, a doctor can come to your hotel room, villa or condo anywhere in Phuket, day or night. Takecare Clinic sends English-speaking doctors from its three 24/7 clinics in Bangtao, Kata and Patong. Message us on WhatsApp with your location and symptoms; the doctor examines and treats you in the room and prepares your insurance paperwork.

I carry out hotel and villa visits across Phuket, and the most common reason people call is that they feel too weak, dizzy or dehydrated to sit in a taxi. Seeing someone in their own room also shows me things a clinic cannot, such as what they have been eating and how well they are managing.

The hotel calls we receive follow a pattern. A whole family goes down with vomiting after the same meal, a child spikes a fever after a day at the water park, or an older traveller feels faint and weak the day after a long-haul flight. Others are well enough to travel but cannot leave a sick partner or sleeping children. In each case, bringing the doctor to the room is simply the more sensible option.

When a room visit makes more sense than the clinic

A hotel visit suits anyone who cannot travel safely or comfortably: repeated vomiting, dizziness from heat or dehydration, a fever with shaking chills, or a sprained ankle. It also makes sense for infections that spread easily, such as a stomach bug or flu, because it keeps germs out of taxis and waiting rooms. Parents with several children, older travellers, and anyone who values privacy or needs help late at night often prefer it too.

How to request a visit

Send us a WhatsApp message with the patient’s name and age, the hotel name and room number or a map pin for a villa, the main symptoms and when they started, any long-term conditions, current medicines and allergies, and your insurance details if you want us to try direct billing. A member of the team replies to clarify anything urgent and gives you an estimated arrival time. We confirm the price on WhatsApp before your visit.

While you wait, let reception or the security gate know a doctor is coming, have your passport ready, and put any medicines you have taken on the table so the doctor can see exactly what and how much.

What the doctor brings, and what can be done in your room

The doctor arrives with a full examination kit, including a stethoscope, otoscope, blood pressure monitor, thermometer and pulse oximeter (a finger clip that reads your oxygen level), along with dressings, injectable medicines and a supply of common treatments. Blood can be taken in the room for our laboratory, and fluids can be given through a drip when dehydration is significant, as our IV drip therapy in Phuket page describes.

ProblemUsually managed in your roomWhen we move you
Vomiting and diarrhoeaRehydration, anti-nausea injection, a drip if neededBlood in the stool, severe pain, no response to fluids
FeverExamination, blood sample for dengue and a blood countDengue warning signs, stiff neck, confusion
Ear, throat or chest infectionExamination and treatmentBreathlessness or a low oxygen reading
Sprain or minor fallAssessment, strapping, pain reliefSuspected fracture needing an X-ray
Chest pain or stroke signsNever wait for a room visitCall 1669 immediately

The two commonest reasons for a room visit have their own guides: food poisoning treatment and fever treatment.

Villas, hills and traffic: Phuket logistics

The doctor comes from whichever of our clinics is nearest, but Phuket’s geography still matters. Villa estates on the hills above Kamala, Surin, Kata and Nai Harn often sit behind security gates at the end of unnamed lanes, so a map pin and the number of someone who can open the gate save real time. Traffic over the Patong hill and along the coast road slows in the late afternoon and after tropical downpours, and we factor that into the arrival estimate. In condos, tell the security desk your unit number in advance.

Clinical insight: when several people in one room have vomiting and diarrhoea, norovirus is a common cause. Alcohol hand gel works poorly against it, so wash hands with soap and water, use a separate bathroom for the sick person if you can, and clean surfaces with a bleach-based product.

When to see a doctor

Ask for a visit early rather than late: when a child has not passed urine for eight hours or more, when an adult cannot keep fluids down, when a fever keeps coming back despite paracetamol, or when an injury makes walking impossible. Do not wait for a room visit for chest pain, stroke signs, severe breathing difficulty, heavy bleeding, a seizure or someone who is hard to wake. Call 1669 or go straight to a hospital emergency department.

See a doctor if: vomiting or diarrhoea stops you keeping fluids down, a fever lasts beyond two days, or an injury leaves you unable to walk. Call 1669 rather than waiting for a visit if breathing, consciousness or chest pain is the problem.

Prevention and early detection

Families can prevent many late-night visits with a small kit: oral rehydration salts, a digital thermometer, children’s paracetamol with dosing by weight, and plasters. Drink steadily in the heat, choose freshly cooked food and watch children closely around pools. The early signs of dehydration are thirst, dark urine and tiredness; acting then, with oral fluids or an early visit, usually avoids a drip later.

Prevention point: save your hotel’s full address, a map pin and our WhatsApp number on your phone on arrival. When someone is ill at 2 am, you will not want to search for them.

Arranging a hotel visit with Takecare Clinic

Visits run 24 hours a day from our Bangtao (Cherngtalay) clinic, Kata-Karon clinic and Patong clinic. The quickest way to arrange one is a message on WhatsApp, or you can call +66 81 718 9080. If you are able to travel, walking into any of the three clinics is another option. We direct bill most travel insurers, and you receive a receipt, medical report and itemised invoice for your claim.

Related services and treatments

If you can travel, a walk-in doctor in Phuket is often faster. For advice before deciding, our doctor on call in Phuket line or a telemedicine consultation can help. Summary

A doctor hotel visit in Phuket brings an examination, tests, treatment and insurance paperwork to your room, villa or condo at any hour. It is ideal when you are too unwell to travel, contagious, or caring for others. Send your location and symptoms on WhatsApp, tell the gate or reception, and call 1669 instead for any life-threatening symptom.

“When you message us for a visit, send your hotel name, room number and main symptoms. It helps us bring the right medicines and arrive prepared.”

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can a doctor reach my hotel?

It depends on where you are and the traffic. The doctor travels from the nearest of our three clinics, and we give you a realistic arrival estimate when you message. If symptoms become severe while you wait, such as breathing difficulty or confusion, call 1669 rather than waiting for us to arrive.

Will my travel insurance pay for a doctor to come to my room?

Many travel policies cover a doctor visit when you are ill, but conditions vary, so check yours or ask us to contact the insurer. We direct bill most travel insurers and provide a receipt, medical report and itemised invoice. We confirm the price on WhatsApp before your visit if you are paying yourself.

Do I need to book a hotel visit in advance?

No. Visits are arranged on demand, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Message us on WhatsApp when you need one. If you know you will want a follow-up, for example to recheck a fever the next morning, the doctor can arrange the timing during the first visit.

Can the doctor put up a drip in my room?

Yes, when it is medically appropriate, for example for dehydration from vomiting or diarrhoea. The doctor assesses you first, because some people, including those with heart or kidney problems, need a more cautious approach. Oral fluids are tried first when you can keep them down.

Can one visit cover my partner and children too?

Yes. Tell us when you message how many people are unwell, their ages and their symptoms, so the doctor brings enough supplies. Each person is examined and treated individually and receives their own paperwork for insurance, which is common when a whole family catches the same stomach bug.

What happens if the doctor finds something serious during the visit?

The doctor starts treatment in the room, arranges transfer to hospital by ambulance or car depending on how unwell you are, and sends a referral letter to the hospital team. We also help you contact your insurer’s assistance line, which most policies require before a hospital admission.
